Pohlads SUck

Twins Home Opener: Friday April 3 2026

On Friday, April 3rd, during the Minnesota Twins home opener against the Tampa Bay Rays, people across Target Field broke out into a “POHLADS SUCK” chant in the middle of the third inning. As game goers entered the stadium for the mid-afternoon game, activists handed out 15,000 cards that said “Have the Pohlads let you down? CHANT “POHLADS SUCK” between the top and the bottom of the third inning” on one side and “Why the Pohlads SUCK: Ruined Our Team, Bad Neighbors During ICE Occupation, Don’t Care About Workers” on the other side.

The Pohlads are deeply unpopular amongst Twins fans in Minnesota due to what is widely seen as their severe mismanagement of the team, and as we enter the 2026 season Twins fans are the least optimistic fanbase of the entire MLB. At Friday’s home opener, fans and activists highlighted that the Pohlads have let Minnesota down not just because of their mismanagement of the Twins but also because they stayed on the sidelines during the federal government’s largest immigration crackdown in history, when thousands of everyday Minnesotans put their lives on the line daily to protect their immigrant neighbors. Activists wheat-pasted near the stadium calling out the Pohlads’ silence about the ICE raids that terrorized the city for weeks.

Participants of the action on Friday emphasized that the Pohlads have neglected to ensure their business ventures in Minnesota are safe for workers, such as United Properties failing to take concrete action to protect the workers on their construction sites from ICE violence and from labor violations such as wage theft, harassment and discrimination.

Chris Pohlad  is the Chief of Staff of United Properties. According to eyewitness accounts and public records, for some of its housing developments, United Properties relies on non-union contractors that have documented track records of mistreating workers on other sites, including worker misclassification, injuries, and retaliation. Worker centers and community groups have been calling on United Properties to protect the workers on their construction sites from labor violations and abuse for over four years, and United Properties has yet to sign on to a third party-monitoring system that would ensure workers are protected from abuse.

“The fans, the workers, and the general community have really been let down by the lack of leadership. With wealth comes great responsibility. When a family with this level of power chooses to sit on the sidelines while our communities are attacked and our neighbors are killed, they’re putting their profits over the safety of their workers and over all Minnesotans.”
